Allied Electric featured among a select group of technology-based companies giving presentations at this year's Scottish Technology Showcase.
Hosted by Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Technology Showcase was held in the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, in Glasgow. The high-profile event attacted decision makers from a wide range of business sectors, with the aim of sharing technological expertise and providing inspiration for future business opportunities.
Amongst the panel of industry keynote speakers, Allied Electric managing director, Paul Nelson, presented on the history of Allied Electric, revealed the latest editions to its range of fully electric vehicles and discussed the company’s plans for the future.
Speaking at the afternoon seminar ‘Driving Scotland’s Green Technologies’, Paul recalled some of the initial challenges: “Allied had to overcome a number of hurdles when moving to the production of fully electric vehicles.
“As the UK's leading supplier of wheelchair accessible vehicles and taxis, we already have great expertise in the conversion of vehicles. Combining this technological know-how with sheer determination, we found solutions to any problems in the beginning of our electric vehicle project and have now created a range of reliable, fully electric, zero emission vehicles for the UK market.”
Allied Electric’s Peugeot eExpert Tepee, on show at the event, proved a big hit with visitors who had the opportunity to see the fully electric vehicle up close.
With Scotland now leading the pathway to a low carbon economy, Glasgow based Allied Electric has played a key part in the movement by bringing innovative and reliable zero emissions vehicles to market. Their products combine the latest in Lithium-Ion battery technology and electronic management software with a range of reliable Peugeot vehicles.
Allied Electric has set its sights on becoming the UK’s leading supplier of all-electric vehicles (EVs) for the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market.
