Low carbon vehicle manufacturer, Allied Electric was nominated for GreenFleet’s Electric Vehicle of the Year award for their all electric, zero-emission Peugeot eExpert Tepee.
The Green Fleet Awards, which recognise the pioneers of environmental fleet management, were this year held at the historic Guildhall in London. Judged by representatives from the Institute of Car Fleet Management, WhatGreenCar? and GreenFleet magazine, the awards are an important highlight for the green transport industry.
Motoring journalist and Fifth Gear presenter Tiff Nedell hosted the night and revealed the 2009 winners over the 23 categories which included Electric Vehicle of the Year, Green Motoring Journalist of the Year and Alternative Fuel supplier.
Allied’s eExpert Tepee, launched last year, was up for Electric Vehicle of the Year Award. The fully electric eExpert Tepee MPV is powered by an all-electric motor and lithium-ion battery, meaning no carbon emissions or pollutants are propelled when the vehicle is operating. With a range of 100 miles and top speed of MPH, the eExpert Tepee is ideal as a city car.
Allied Electric sales director, Peter Facenna, commented: “Allied Electric has had a very successful year with the award of two major Government contracts to supply electric vans and cars. To be nominated for Electric Vehicle of the Year, on top of this, was just the icing on the cake.
Peter added: “ Of course now we hope to win this prestigious award in 2010.”
