Allied Electric showed its continued support for Cenex and the Low Carbon Vehicle Procurement Programme (LCVPP) with their attendance at the second annual LCV2009 Ride and Drive, Conference and Exhibition.
Earlier this year, Allied Electric was announced as a key supplier to the LCVPP, which supports accelerated introduction of low carbon vehicles in public sector fleets. Allied Electric is to supply fully electric Peugeot eBoxer vans, which are powered by lithium-ion battery technology and have a range of over 100 miles.
This years LCV event, held at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedford, aimed to educate fleet operators on zero and low carbon vehicle technology and to raise awareness of green funding initiatives and opportunities. Over 200 exhibitors appeared this year, ranging from key industry suppliers, major vehicle manufacturers, and academic organisations, as well as government agencies supporting low carbon vehicle projects. Total visitor numbers were around 1,700, an increase of about 50 per cent on the 2008 show.
Allied Electric took the opportunity to showcase their range of fully electric vehicles to a number of fleet operators at this year’s event.
Cenex’s CEO, Robert Evans, commented: “The success of this year’s event is a positive demonstration of the interest in low carbon vehicles in the UK. We’re all very pleased with the way this year’s expanded show has gone. It was a team effort - and we could not have accomplished all that we did without the help and support of our partner organisations and event sponsors.”
David Speak, Allied Electric’s Corporate Sales Manager, said: “The event was a fantastic opportunity for us to raise fleet operators’ awareness and confidence in our electric vehicles to support future procurement. We were also able to physically demonstrate that electric vehicles don’t have to mean a compromise in style or driving performance.”
