Allied Electric put their Peugeot eExpert van to the test this week, driving from Brighton to London for Revolves’ 2009 Eco Rally.
This year, as part of Green Transport Week, Revolve hosted a green motoring day and the fun filled Eco Rally which took drivers from Brighton to London, with a reception from London Mayor Boris Johnson.
And They’re Off!
Taking pride of place at the starting line at Brighton’s famous pier was Allied’s all electric, zero emission eExpert. Powered by the latest in Lithium-Ion battery technology and an all electric motor, the eExpert travelled a total of 85 miles in 90 mins which included various pit stops for refreshments and photocalls along with way.
A Warm Welcome
Allied’s eExpert was welcomed into London, along with the other participants, by Boris Johnson, at City Hall.
David Speak, Allied’s Corporate Sales Manager and designated driver, said: “The race was a fantastic way to highlight the ability of electric vehicles. Our Expert performed brilliantly in the rally with lots of charge to spare.”
David continued: “Boris himself congratulated us on our efforts. He was really impressed with the Expert’s 100 mile range and told me that the vehicle would be ideal for inner city journeys in and around London.”
Also on show outside City Hall was Allied Electric’s zero emission Peugeot E7 taxi and Peugeot eBoxer van, which attracted a lot of interest from conference delegates, the public and Boris himself.
